Course overview
The Advanced Stage of the CPQ is broken down into three elements: core legal knowledge, practice and skills; ethics and professional responsibility; and professional experience. Bede Sixth Form College will provide you with tuition on the core knowledge, practice and skills required to complete this element of the programme. As part of your academic study you will need to complete four mandatory modules. These include, Professional and Legal Skills, Dispute Resolution and Litigation, Criminal Law and Litigation and Property and Conveyancing. In addition, you will be required to select at least one optional module from the following: Business and Employment Law, Family Law and Practice or Wills, Probate and Private Client.
In addition, you will be required to evidence your competence via a professional experience portfolio, carried out with a legal employer, and complete the second ethics and professional responsibility eLearning module. If you have not completed the Foundation Stage of CPQ you will also be required to complete the first ethics and responsibilities module un order to progress.
Course information
You will have to sit one exam assessment for each of the modules studied, with the exception of Professional and Legal Skills which consists of two different assessments. Your eLearning module will be assessed online via the CILEX Portal. For the Professional Experience, you will be expected to demonstrate that you are competent against the criteria of the competency framework relevant to your job role and CPQ stage. This will be done via an online portfolio and your experience will need to be validated by your employer.
Those who successfully complete the CPQ Advanced Stage will be a qualified CILEX Advanced Paralegal. You will then have the option to progress onto the CPQ Professional Stage to become and CILEX Lawyer.
